Bánh mì, also known as the Vietnamese sandwich, has been widely praised as the best sandwich in the world by many food lovers and critics. Despite only being added to the Oxford English Dictionary in March 2011, the story of bánh mì started in Vietnam many centuries ago during the French colonial period. Influenced by the French baguette, Vietnamese street vendors created their own more airy version with a thinner crust. Since then it has become the most delicious, popular and easily found treat in every corner of Vietnam.
The filling varies from city to city, and from vendor to vendor. You can find a wide range of meat, fish or vegetable fillings all with a delicious array of sauce and salads stuffed on top. Our favourite is the classic combination which includes thin slices of roast pork, pâté, chicken rolls with homemade mayonnaise, chili sauce and a layering of thinly sliced cucumber, pickled carrot and daikon and fresh coriander.
We are really proud to serve you one of our best treats from Vietnam, and we hope you will love bánh mì as much as we do.
